I had to move in with my parents because i couldn't find a job. My 55 gallon tank has been dismantled and is in storage. My eel is now residing in a 25 ish gallon cooler. His filter light and heater are set up and i was able to capture about 5 ghost shrimp to keep him company.

I am taking this opportunity to acclimate him to SW... right now the SG is only up to around 1.015 i plan on having him at 1.020 by August.

So far he seems to be doing well, I will post pics of his habitat ASAP and i hope that I can help other ppl that are having to move large fish.

He's still not eating... and to post pics i would have to find the cord for my cam and you know how that is when there are boxes everywhere.

I'll try to keep this updated. i think i might try garlic tommorrow to see if it will get him to eat.

Yeah still not eating... I'm about to descide to just freeze him or something... Now i have to start thinking of my next project... im thinking about a small reef so it would be easier to move and selling my 55 gallon. I'll keep you updated on every thing.

looks pretty good... what is that a 30 gallon?

all im gonna comment on is it looks pretty open... my eel liked to be learl out of site and like to be hid.

if it were me i would pile the rock so he really has a good hiding spot, but then again i am the one with the dying eel

Predator, maybe you should check with a LFS to offer him instead of freezing him as you said. I might be able to recover that way.

the LFS is non existant... its like 20 miles away.... and they have no idea what brackish water is in that place. even if they did i work 6 days 10 hours a day and they close at like 5... its not like i can take him.

although if someone wants to give it a try ill give him away, but it would be local pickup only and me being located in SW arkansas i really doubt that anyone will jump at the opportunity

as an update i have tried my best to regulate water conditions after a nasty evaporation episode and his stress levels seem to have dropped... still not eating, but im hoping that with some normalness he will start again

Im actually impressed with how long he has lasted... its been a month or more since his last meal.
