What FW fish do you all have??
i have a 10g with guppies that i am breeding,
10g tall with 3 small angelfish and some tetra's
and a 6g with a betta.
ummmmm 7L with male betta
14L cycling for betta to go into using aquaone external filter
100L 2 goldfish, bristlenose, 6 minnows and 6 tetras (yes we know that the tetras are tropical. mozoo internal filter plus bubble wand
300L empty (cycling) for the goldfish and some minnows. mozoo internal filter plus bubble wall.
Thats all for now.
To add to what i had,
i set-up a new tank that has,
3 german strain anglefish, 4 neons tet's, 4 albino neon tet's, 2 male double sword yellow snakeskin guppies, and 2 cory cats.
I am hoping to add 2 dwarf guramies, <dang cant spell that right)
I have a 20 planted that hasd some guppys that I am breeding. It seems like as I keep breeding children together, they keep getting dumber and uglier.
I also have a five inch pleco, two cory cats, and three zebra danios.
Alex - are guppys really easy to breed?
Pretty much. Just give them clean water, a Ph around 7.0 and they will breed no matter what. I even leave the fry in the main tank becuase nothing will eat them for some reason. I feed some of them to my saltwater pseudochromis, he loves them. The females can even store sperm in some organ that they have, so they will give birth without having males in the tank also. The easiest par about breeding them is that you don't have to take care of any eggs.

Ive been thinking seriously about setting up a breeding tank. I think it would be really fun and a very satisfying challenge. Im just not sure what I want to breed yet. I dont want nothing TOO easy, but nothing to hard either. Maybe tetras of some kind, or danios.... anybody have any ideas ? Maybe something you have bred and had good luck with?
Ive had successful breedings (4X) of harlequin rasboras, i never did save any of the fry though, just didnt have the room or the money, or the time. They were pretty fun to watch breed, and were interesting, they werent hard to breed, and definatly werent easy, although i didnt try to breed them, they just did it, and my conditions are completly opposite than what they need to breed
Now those might be fun...I LOVE those fish... Did you keep your breeders right in the same tank as the babies? or did you remove the parents after they spawned?
I guess id rather breed something that I can allow to leave the parent fish in the same tank without them eating all the eggs & fry. Too bad your fry didnt make it, sorry about that.
I think that you should breed Rams. They are awesome. That's what I'm gonna do next.
Oh gosh, are they pretty easy? I used to have a couple blue rams and they were beautiful fish!!!! Ill have to find some reading on them!!! Thanks for the idea
I don't think that they are too hard, But if you provide them with proper conditions, all fish will breed. I think they need soft acidic water. They don't get very big so a planted ten gallon would be perfect. You can leave the parents with them sometimes, but I'm not saying that it will work for sure.
Good luck!
Yes it sounds cool & fun. Last night I also did alot of reading on the kribenses, Id love to try them too. Sounds very easy and the parents can stay with the babies in most cases. Plus these fish stay on the small side 3-4 inches. I have an xtra 29 gal tank that Ill be using when I decide to do this. But I dont have all the equiptment that Ill need, just yet. Im very excited about it, but Im gonna have to wait for a bit. This will give me planty of time to decide what I want to try for sure and read up on all their needs first.
