Has anyone ever thought about creating a tank with changing tides? It would have a sump below it the same size as the main tank, and pumps on timers so that it would empty and refill once a day? I just thought of it and realized that I have never heard anything like it before. reef/horny.bmp

Wow,

thats a cool idea,
I actually seen a wave tank, were there are actual waves on top of the water,
but never heard of a tide tank,

that would be a fun project to start reef/Nemo.gif

It would be too expensive for me, and my dad wouldn't let me get another container of water.

Actually that is an idea we have been kicking around for some time now. The only reason we haven't done it yet is it would have to be out doors and it gets cold here!! I wanted a pond he said only way was if it was salt!! lol
I did know of a fella in another group who had a "tide pool" in his basement though! He had a rigid 200 gal pond with a 75g tank that every few min would fill and spill into the pond. He had it set up to mimic a tide pool with rock, corals, and critters.. was really cool!

Actually to have the tides you would have to have 4 different movements.. in and out for high to low to high to low... and at least each "tide" 2x's in 24 hours to make it more natural that's alot of timing and plumbing! lol but man it would be cool!!

Wow That sounds awesome. I did see something on a show on HTV that was about a house in Hawaii that had a pump that pumped wtaer in and out of a large tank that was like 6000 gallons and was above the ground and belowground in his basement. They would only let him get species from that area, but It was still extremely cool.
