for what it does during breeding. During
breeding, the female lays the eggs on an
overhanging plant and the male will splash
them occasionally to keep them wet.
Tank Mates: Currently Unknown
The fish during breeding will both jump at the leaf at the same time. They will jump "hanging on" to each other, and to the human eye will look like the same fish. After the female has laid the eggs on the leaf, the male will splash them about every minute untill they hatch. Thats a very devoted fauther!
Scientists dont really know why they have adapted this way of breeding but it might be too keep their babies safe from the australian bull frog that also lives in those same waters.
