Ok,
im my 45g i added 2 eels, and one is shaking its head in weird ways.
WHat can it be?
what kind of eels are they?
due to the way eels take in oxygen, many will look as if they are
gasping- this is normal.
if the head movement is subtle, this is probably normal, but if it is a
violent shaking, their could be something causing it.
Yea,
its a violent shaking.
I talked to some people on reefcenteral.com and they said that they had had some cases of that with thier morays, but they said it went away.
He is interested in food, and ate a guppy, but the shaking is still there, and very noticable.
yeah, maybe once he gets acclimated fully to the new surroundings,
it will stop.
I would recommend that you do not feed it fresh water feeders,
as they do not have any nutritional value for marine animals.
instead, try pieces of fresh squid, fish, etc.
if you want to feed live fish, although expensive try damsels.
Yea,
once they start feeding i will feed frozen,
The snowflake eats frozen krill. But the only way to get a feeding responce from the golden eel is live feeders.
wow, a golden eel! that's one you don't see too often.
a friend of mine had one, look out for small tankmates!
they seem more prone than other eels to make snacks of inverts.
Is this your new Brackish tank? If it is feeding, then it will probably be OK. Maybe you could get a deal on the damsels if you tel your lfs that you are going to get them often, but it still might be expensive. Here they are three dollars. I have never heard of a golden eel before, sounds cool.
Hope he stops.
I get damsels for free,
i work at my LFS

hehehe
i hope all goes well, and its a SW tank, not brackish.
Free damsels? You are lucky!
