The other night i found my peppered cory stuck to the intake on the filter, i thought he was dead but when i turned the filter off he tried to swim off.

He had no balance at all so i treated him with some primafix, not knowing what was really wrong, he had no outward signs of illness.

He ended up dying, the others he was with are all fine, anyone have any ideas what could have been the problem?

All tank measures are perfect wink.gif

I think he just had a bad day.

Yeah, getting stuck in the filter no doubt really stressed him out, and I'm sure the primafix didn't do any good. I'd try to stay away from using melafix and primafix with scaless/sensitive fish when they are sick, or even if they are ok. That stuff is too strong. But anyways, I think that all the stress of everything push him over the edge. Sorry to hear about your loss sad.gif *hugs*

I'm sorry you lost your cory, Aimee. Next time, I'd recommend maybe just stress coat.

fishfriend- 08-15-2005
No worries i will put that on my "MUST Buy" list LOL wink.gif

Well meds aren't going to do anything if the fish isn't sick, or injured. It'll just stress them more. I had a betta that got stuck to my filter for who knows how long, and I just unplugged it and she swam away. I left the filter unplugged, and kept an eye on her but didn't tamper with the water, or add any meds. She recovered just fine (though it took longer for me to wink.gif.) In my opinion, less is more. Meaning... the less you put in the water, the better for the fish. I only use meds when I know for sure what illness/parasite/ect my fish has. If it's fin damage, or something minor I just keep the water warm and clean. I LOVE salt though. Whenever I have a fish that isn't looking so good, I add just a lil aquarium salt and they perk up in no time. I do the same with any new bettas I get, so salt pretty much does everything that stress coat does though I myself never used that stuff before so I can't be compeltely certain. Salt is also great to use against fungus along with other things, and less drastic than meds to treat the same thing. Plus it's cheaper than buying an assortment of meds, and other products when salt will do the trick in most cases, or help at the very least. Also, you can combine a salt treatment with an medicine treatment instead of just waiting for one thing to clear up before you can switch meds to treat another thing the fish has. Anyways, I'm rambling too much lmao so heres the break down... SALT = GOOD.

Salt = Not good for corys they are armored catfish wink.gif

They tend not to deal with salt well at all.
I do use salt for other fish though and have found it very effective against most diseases wink.gif

Thanks for the rambling you made me laugh LOL laugh.gif
