Well meds aren't going to do anything if the fish isn't sick, or injured. It'll just stress them more. I had a betta that got stuck to my filter for who knows how long, and I just unplugged it and she swam away. I left the filter unplugged, and kept an eye on her but didn't tamper with the water, or add any meds. She recovered just fine (though it took longer for me to

.) In my opinion, less is more. Meaning... the less you put in the water, the better for the fish. I only use meds when I know for sure what illness/parasite/ect my fish has. If it's fin damage, or something minor I just keep the water warm and clean. I LOVE salt though. Whenever I have a fish that isn't looking so good, I add just a lil aquarium salt and they perk up in no time. I do the same with any new bettas I get, so salt pretty much does everything that stress coat does though I myself never used that stuff before so I can't be compeltely certain. Salt is also great to use against fungus along with other things, and less drastic than meds to treat the same thing. Plus it's cheaper than buying an assortment of meds, and other products when salt will do the trick in most cases, or help at the very least. Also, you can combine a salt treatment with an medicine treatment instead of just waiting for one thing to clear up before you can switch meds to treat another thing the fish has. Anyways, I'm rambling too much lmao so heres the break down... SALT = GOOD.
