In these instructions, you will learn how to setup a 10g Tetra Tank.
If you have any questions regarding these plans, post here or PM me.
These instructions are property of me, NeonTetraFan. Please do not
post them somewhere else without my permission. Thank you.
Step OneFirst, you need to buy a 10 gallon tank and the accessories. I'd recommend
buying the following items. (You don't have to get the exact items.)
1. 10 Gallon Glass Aquarium ($10 at most fish stores)
2.
Marineland Emperor 280 ($30)
3. Hood/Light Combo ($20 at some fish stores)
4.
Ebo-Jager 50W Heater ($15)
5. 10lbs. Aquarium Gravel ($10)
You will also need things like dechlor, stress coat, and Tetra TetraMin Tropical
Flake Food. I recommend Tetra because it brings out the color in Tetras alot.
Step TwoNow, take the gravel out of the bag and rinse it until clean and dust free. Then
put the gravel in the bottom of the tank. Once you have finished this, fill the
tank with tap water and add dechlor. After this, put heater and filter on/in the tank
and turn on. Now let run for about 24 hours to insure everything is working.
Step ThreeNow add any decorations and plants that you want. If you are a beginner I would
recommend using plastic or silk plants. They won't die on you!
Step FourNow you need to cycle your tank. If you need more information on cycing an
aquarium, post a message on the message board.
Step FiveOnce your tank has completed it's cycle, you can begin adding fish. For fish,
pick from Neon Tetra, Lemon Tetra, Cardinal Tetra or Head & Tail Light Tetra.
Pick between two species you want and get 8 of each. ONLY get one species
at a time. Get the other in about 2 weeks to ensure you do not send your tank
into a mini-cycle. This will cause a loss in fish and money. If you choose Neons,
make sure that your tank is FULLY cycled. I recommend running a cycled tank
for at least 6 months before adding Neons because they are delicate.
