Sounds great Aimee. Guppies are east and fun to breed. And very rewarding. How much does your pet shop pay for you to sell babies to them?

I used to breed gupps, but mine never made it past 3 months.
I have no ides why. I had a fe-male that only laid about 5 babies tho, (really old) so that could have been it.
sounds great aimee, would love to see some pics if you can get them, they sound very pretty
Guppies breed easily, so I don't think many pet shops pay much for them, or even pay for them at all.
Mine does. Not much, a quarter each for good stock, dime each for anything else in cash. 1 dollar store credit for good stock, 50 cents store credit for bad stock. I usually trade out 1 guppy for two to three crickets. That's how I feed my Leopard Gecko without having to pay money for his food.

LOL,
if some gupps are really nice, store owners are willing to pay a buck each for good quality gupps, tho sad to say, pll dont recognize the difference between feeders and show quality gupps,
I do, I do!!!! I selective breed a few batches in a few spare 10 gals and show them at the local fish shows here. Then, if they win, or at least place in the top 10, people will pay you like 30 bucks for your gup.

I would never pay $30 for a guppy, IMO.
Nor would I, but people will pay big bucks for show quality fish. Basically all you have to do is selective breed them, and pick out the nicer looking males. raise each nice looking male in a heated 2 gallon jar, that you can pick up from factories pretty cheap. I heat them all at once on a reptile heat pad, one of the larger ones, that lays on a table. Only one outlet, and it does a good job keeping them the right temp. Feed them often, and clean out the bottom with a little bit of airline tubing each day. once they get big and healthy, clip their fins up nice, treat them with melafix, and once healed, they are ready for show. I got a tourist to pay me 70$ for a Red Delta Guppy I was rather fond of. He had a nice fine black line along his peltoral fin, and he was really a looker. I told him he wasn't for sale, cause I wanted to breed him to make lotsa nice lookin' fry, but once he said I'll give you 70$ for him, cash, well, I couldn't refuse. Wonder how the little guy's doing. Breeding guppies can be very rewarding.

The LFS has said they will give me 75 Cents (Australian) each in store credit, which isnt bad considering they can get them from the supplier for $1.10each.
We have lost a few babys just recently in a grow out tank, seem to be losing 2 a day, but cant for the life of me work out why. All the -*test*-('")s came back fine so i am guessig they have got something that i cant see

Anyways i have loads of others doing well in other tanks so i will just watch them grow
