Goldfish should not be kept in bowls,

but i was wondering, how did the whole idea of keeping goldfish in bowls come from? From what i know they where usually kept in ponds till something happened.

Is it something like the finding nemo movie, or what?

I think some dumb person decided to make
something called a Mini-Pond. I don't know the exact
story, but this is just my guess.

yeah, sounds like a likely thing to happen. Just like Betta's an bowls...Betta's need at least 5 gallons to truly be happy, people!

I agree bowls are bad but the way they keep fish
in this Hong Kong LFS is unbelieveable.

Oh my gosh, Aqua. That is amazing!

Apparantly the turn over of fish is unreal
so they can get away with keeping the fish in such
huge numbers, they actually have fish bagged
and ready to go.
Still I wouldnt like to be a fish at the bttm of
one of those tanks at feeding time, ohmy.gif

No way would that be good.

SoulWeaver- 07-31-2005
Wow... you can't even see the bottom or through any of the sides of those tanks! blink.gif

That is just insane.

Im sure it is like alot of things, people think of great ideas which really are not that good for the animals but hey most people think the fish is replacable if it doesnt survive sad.gif

I dont agree with it but i guess some people dont value life as much as others .

I agree, Aimee.

Same here, I wish people would act more on quality instead of money

I have one goldfish here (well actually i have more than one tongue.gif ) but this one in particular is a reject LOL
He has a bend tail fin, his gill covers are bent and he is small but i think he is pretty great, he has already had a dose of ICK i couldnt imagine that he would have survived in a bowl with no filtration etc because obviously his immune system is low because of his deformaty.

People just dont think when it comes to $2 goldfish

Good luck with the goldfish, Aimee. I hope you don't loose him with some other odd disease.

Poor guy. Good luck with him. (might want to watch out for fungus, or anything else while he is down in the pits)
