What is your favorite type of filter?

NeonTetraFan- 07-15-2005
My favorite is the HOB, because I like the Marineland Emperor line.

What is everyone else's favorite filter?

TidusIsTheOne- 07-15-2005
oooh, this is another really hard one! I can't decide between sump, which is my favorite for saltwater, canister, which is my favorite for freshwater, and wet/dry, which I like to add as an extra to them both to help out with the extra filtration

I think I'll vote for sump, since they allow you an extra place for heaters, live rock/live sand, and injured corals.

What is your favorite sump?

What does everyone else like?

TidusIsTheOne- 07-15-2005
I don't buy name brand. I make them myself out of 25 or 55 gallon rubbermaid containers, pvc pipe, pvc glue, and plexi-glass. If you know what your doing, it doens't cost much at all.

Ah yeah, I see what you are doing. It has to be cheaper than $200 for a factory-made one.

TidusIsTheOne- 07-15-2005
Yeah, a lot cheaper.

How much does it normally cost to make? About $50?

TidusIsTheOne- 07-15-2005
depends. for a 25 gal, a little over 50, for a 55 gal sump, about 80

NeonTetraFan- 07-15-2005
Ah, ok. Maybe you could post an article of how to build one!

TidusIsTheOne- 07-15-2005
Sure, I'll try to find an article and post it in a seperate thread tonight.
