My friend was screwing up his 10 gallon SW after i told him its really hard to maintain a tank so small, he decided to give up after 2 fish deaths. So he gave me all 4 of the surving damsels. Wherever he bought the fish the idiot told him he can out up to 10 fish in a 10 gallon tank. They are doing fine in my 40gal but im not to sure if they are compatable with my other fish. I have a firefish goby, 1 maroon clown, 2 spotted cardinals, and a choclate chip star.

How is everything going with the damsels?

friscomenace- 06-17-2005
wow i havent been online in a while well my damsels been getting along fine but i just discovered a chomp on one the top fins on my maroon. If any more fish die they are gone no questions asked.

Yes, damsels are a very hardy fish but they are territorial and are very aggressive. The least aggressive are the Blue-Green Chromis. As I read this topic for the first time, I guess I saw that coming with your goby. sad.gif Your maroon will most likely be next in a 40 gallon. Remember that if it is not dead, it may be misrable! Being picked on all day is no fun!

yeah, that maroon is as good as dead with those damsels. They are very, very aggressive. My friend had a couple damsels kill his clownfish. No fun at all. Watch them closely.

Well so far the damsels havent messed with the clown

That is good news. They may have picked their area of the tank and if they did not mess with it then they should all get along then. Good for you.
