Ok has anyone here successfully treated cotton wool disease?
I have a little brown goldfish (named cola) that is suffering from this disease, i have treated with a broad spectrum antibiotic and it seems to be getting worse, we have done some research on the net and many of the web sites suggest salt so we added some salt suitable for aquariums and we are waiting to see how this goes.
Cola is in a treatment tank (actually a square bucket with 10 Litres of water filtered and airated), the fish he was in with do not seem to be affected, how long does it take for symptoms to show?

Thanks in advance

Aimee

Well i think we have fixed the problem, the salt has done the job wub.gif
Cola is on the mend and all the fungus has now gone. We will be keeping him in the treatment tank for another week just to be sure but all looks good now reef/Nemo.gif

Thanks Alex wink.gif
i think the problem is because of a few things starting with the fact that cola has some genetic problems, and the tank had just about finished cycling. He is in great shape now and no more signs of fungus wink.gif lets hope it stays that way

Good job!

Did you adding salt to the tank heal it?
