what's up people!

I'm pretty much a marine guy,
but my daughter has a betta(not sure what species, I just know it's a red betta)
and I am curious on what the typical life-span is.
it was a centerpiece in a wedding we attended about a year-16 months ago
and the fish is still going strong!

thanks for any input.

I have heard of them living a short life of about 2 years, but that has been in a very small tank with minimal care. But I have also heard of them living to the ripe old age of 5 or 6 if they are well taken care of. Meaning a good size tank, with good filtration and water quality, with a mix of different types of foods. You know the deal it is probably the same with marine critters, the better care we take of them the longer they are with us.

Dito to what connie said LOL

The bettas general life span is somewhere between 2-5 years depending on care but as with all things living can be shorter or longer than this wink.gif
Saying this remember that most of the bettas sold are between 8 and 12 months old when we buy them, so that would make your daughters fish about 2.5 years old already smile.gif

When I was little, I had one for 3 years. I have a six year old Zebra Danio. I always keep lots of breeding females around for the old veteran.wink.gif
